There are so many fun trends to try out on your next scrapbooking project, we couldn't even come close to covering them all...but we're sure having fun with the ones we ARE covering!
Today we have a special treat, an off-the-wall project from the newest member of the Webster's Pages family, Erin Blegen.
Mixed Media has taken off...and while it may seem intimidating at first, we promise, it's really easy to get started! Here, Erin shares some quick and easy steps to creating this mixed media canvas:
Gorgeous, right? Webster's Pages products are PERFECT for mixed media.
Step 1: Mix red and pink gelatos together, applying color to the edge of the canvas. Spritz the canvas with water and use your finger to blend colors together.
Step 2: Apply gesso. Erin simply scooped some up with a folded scrap of photo paper and scraped it across the canvas. Some punched bits of paper got mixed in with the gesso, but Erin says, "the smattering of confetti was okay by me!"
Step 3: Lay a mask across the top of your canvas and spritz brown mist, then pink mist over it. Do this at the top left and bottom right corners. This gives your canvas a bit more depth and dimension. (And any mask will work well!)
Step 4: Add papers! Erin hand-cut a section of this paper:
She crumpled the paper and then added it to the canvas. Next, she cut the hot air balloon from the B-side of th paper along with some of the flowers on THIS SHEET, our Margaret paper. A few banners, a touch-up of gesso and the canvas is photo ready.
Step Five: Add some texture paste to the upper right and lower left areas of the canvas, giving the canvas that last bit of detail to make it even more interesting.
Now you can add the photo, frames and even a bit of journaling like Erin has done here.
Use gems and pearls to doll up the hand-cut elements and then step back and admire your handiwork.
So tell us...Have you journeyed into the world of mixed media yet? We'd love to see how you're using our products to embrace this artistic creative outlet!
It's absolutely gorgeous, Erin! You are so inspiring!

I've been playing around with mixed media and art journaling, but haven't incorporated my WP goodies w/it yet. Erin's piece is definitely inspiring! Will have to give it a go soon!
