Mix up Your Media {with Webster's Pages}

Here at Webster's Pages, we are so thankful to have a design team with multiple talents! We love when they have the opportunity to share their artistic endeavors...especially when they're "out of the box!" 

Today, we're taking a look at three gorgeous projects that incorporate mixed media elements, and we'll start with a Gerry van Gent layout. 

Gerry mixed two of ou collections, Girl Land and Sunday Picnic to create this layout, fusing traditional scrapbooking with a variety of mixed media techniques. 

For instance, the swirls were made by applying modeling paste on a stencil. (Modeling paste is a great way to add texture to a layout.

Also, these stamped flowery clocks have been given the mixed media treatment as well. First, Gerry stamped them with Staz-on (this is key because you can paint over the stamped image and it will stay intact. She then applied gesso to the image to create a white-washed look on the image. 

All of Gerry's flowers are handmade, some created from our netting which have been dabbed with gesso and dressed up with pearls. 

What a gorgeous way to implement so many new techniques! 

Now, let's take a look at this lovely art journal created by Emeline Seet:

Emeline says: "As a paper crafter who prefers to have a revolving style, I like to experiment with inks and other mediums. Each time I dabble with mixed media, I always reach for my gesso, acrylic paint and mists."

Emeline uses gesso to blend a mix of patterned papers, and obviously she's doing a beautiful job of that! Here's a closer peek: 

Jaz Lee often does "off the page" type projects, and we often gasp when we see them! Here, Jaz is turning junk into art by starting with a recycled box as her base: 

 

Believe it or not, Jaz prepared the box for altering in five simple steps: 

Step One: Layer tissue paper all over the box 

Step Two: Apply Mod Podge. Then gesso.

Step Three: Mist with mask. Then mist the top of the board till its wet enough to drip down.

Step Four: Randomly add glitter.

But it's Step Five where she really shines! 

Step Five: Embellish using cutouts from Webster's Pages papers and products from Webster's Pages. You could stare at these photos for hours and still not see everything there is to see here. Wow!
